Juneau : Alaska

Juneau is the capital of Alaska and is located along the shores of the Gastineau Channel Although Juneau is set in the midst of a temperate rain forest with no land connection yet one can easily commute through air and sea. Juneau is in Juneau Borough and the community was named after Joseph Juneau, the discoverer of gold in this part of the country. The average high temperature is in July (65° F) while the average low is in January (20°F). Some of Juneau's attractions include the mighty Mendenhall Glacier, the Mt. Roberts Tram, and incredible wildlife viewing and fishing. Visitors can enjoy an array of activities like world class salmon and halibut fishing, glacier hikes and dog sledding, whale watching, shopping.
